Valentino Rossi renews with Yamaha until 2018

The 37-year-old will end his career in the Japanese brand.

O italiano Valentino Rossi prolongou o seu contrato com a equipa Yamaha por mais dois anos, até ao final de 2018, anunciou hoje a equipa de MotoGP do fabricante japonês.

“Estou muito contente por anunciar que a Yamaha e eu prolongámos o nosso contrato e vamos continuar a trabalhar juntos no MotoGP nos próximos dois anos. Estou muito satisfeito com esta decisão, porque sempre esteve nos meus planos competir enquanto me sentir competitivo e me der prazer”, afirmou o sete vezes do mundo, que regressou à Yamaha em 2013.

‘Il Dottore’, de 37 anos, conquistou o título da principal categoria do motociclismo de velocidade em 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 e 2009, tendo no ano passado sido segundo, atrás do espanhol e companheiro de equipa Jorge Lorenzo.

No mesmo comunicado, o diretor da equipa, Lin Jarvis, sustentou que “não há melhor forma de iniciar uma nova temporada do que com o anúncio deste acordo”. “Quando o ‘Vale’ decidiu regressar a casa, em 2013, foi a decisão da sua vida. Este novo acordo confirma que vai terminar a sua carreira no motociclismo com a Yamaha”, referiu Jarvis, ambicionando que “os adeptos da Yamaha possam apreciar três temporadas completas de corridas de Rossi, enquanto tenta alcançar o seu 10.º título mundial”.

Além dos sete triunfos na categoria principal, o italiano sagrou-se também campeão do mundo em 125cc, em 1997, e 250cc, em 1999.

MIGUEL OLIVEIRA "VERY EAGER" THE CHAMPIONSHIP START

MIGUEL OLIVEIRA "MUITO ANSIOSO" PELO INÍCIO DE CAMPEONATO

O piloto Miguel Oliveira diz estar "muito ansioso" antes do início do campeonato do Mundo de motociclismo na sua estreia  em Moto2, no qual considera que "já seria positivo" ficar no top-10 na primeira prova.
O vice-campeão do Mundo de Moto3 vai estar este ano a estrear-se na categoria acima, num campeonato do Mundo que arranca a 20 de março, no Qatar, no que será "uma nova descoberta".

"Estou muito ansioso. Todos os anos fico, mas este ano é uma sensação diferente. Há pilotos que não conheço. Vai ser um abrir de portas e um descobrir totalmente novo", afirmou Miguel Oliveira.

A  faltar 15 dias para o arranque do campeonato, Miguel Oliveira reconheceu as suas "limitações físicas", depois de se ter lesionado num dedo, e por isso considera que "um top-10 já seria positivo" na primeira etapa.
No entanto, o piloto sublinhou que a sua mentalidade não é a de um 'rookie' e que o seu objetivo é igual ao de todos: ganhar.
Ainda lesionado, na sequência de uma fratura num dedo sofrida nos testes oficiais em Jerez de la Frontera, em Espanha, o Miguel Oliveira espera vir a estar a 100 por cento.

Nesta nova categoria de Moto2, Miguel Oliveira disse notar "uma diferença enorme" e que ainda exige uma grande necessidade de adaptação.

"A moto é mais pesada, mais potente, requer muito mais força e vou mais contraído, mas já sinto boas sensações com a nova mota e sinto-me cada vez mais à vontade", descreveu.

Miguel Oliveira contou ainda que, de 10 a 12 de junho, vai participar num campeonato de resistência, numa corrida de 12 horas, em Portimão, um "desafio" que nem hesitou em aceitar.

"Vou fazer dupla com o Miguel Praia. Queria tanto correr em Portugal que aceitei logo o desafio. Expliquei à minha equipa a importância de correr no meu país", contou, admitindo que "risco há sempre".

Miguel Oliveira prepara-se agora para ir para o Qatar, para os últimos testes oficias.
